Apple Vision Pro Sales Are Down After Only Three Months Since Release

Apple Vision Pro demonstrations flooded social media when it was released, and people were impressed with its capabilities. However, the hype around the device did not last very long, as stores are reportedly selling significantly less recently.

Apple Vision Pro Sales Have Dropped

It has been a little under three months since the $3,500 VR headset was launched, and a lot of people who had the dough to spare got themselves an Apple Vision Pro. Even with the price, the headset saw a huge demand, so much so that it was almost sold out two months ago.

It was good while it lasted because apparently, some Apple Stores are now only selling a couple of units in a week, which is a far cry from the 180,000 units sold in its pre-order weekend. Even the demands for demos have gone way down, according to Gizmodo.

The drop in sales doesn't come as much of a surprise. While it had a lot of reviews from tech enthusiasts online, a lot of average users complained about many aspects of the AR/VR headset, a lot of which are too bothersome to ignore.

Some users say that the Apple Vision Pro was uncomfortable to wear, which is a problem since it was advertised as something you can use to do everyday tasks like working, watching content, or even playing games.

There were also complaints regarding the availability of apps on the device, stressing that it was difficult to find apps on the Vision Pro app store, and the fact that there are select mainstream sites that had no intention of creating a dedicated app for the headset.

Netflix, for instance, can only be accessed via browser on the Vision Pro. The company's co-CEO said that they would "wait and see" if the headset would be widely used. Now that they have their answer, it's unlikely that a dedicated app is on the horizon.

Even apps like Spotify and YouTube are yet to create apps with a user interface that works with the visionOS. Funnily enough, it might be the lack of apps that discouraged people from purchasing the device, and the lack of purchases is what's keeping streaming companies from creating dedicated apps.

Apple Vision Pro Hardware Issues

Being uncomfortable to wear is one thing, but the Apple Vision Pro not functioning properly is another matter entirely, especially with the price tag it comes with.

Some users have complained that the right speaker pod has the tendency to overheat to the point that it is already becoming uncomfortably warm, which might be caused by users leaving the battery pack connected as they charge overnight, as per Android Authority.

A couple of Reddit users on the Vision Pro subreddit even found their device's front screen with cracks in the middle, which appeared as a hairline crack over the nose bridge. Users believed it was an overheating issue when the device was being charged with the soft cover on or if it's placed in the case.
