Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean coming to HTC One in mid-June

Rumors of the latest HTC One getting Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean have been surfacing in the smartphone space for quite some time now and now the Head of Russia has tweeted that the software update is not far away.

A GSM Arena report cites Andrey Kormiltsev, the Head of HTC Russia, who has now confirmed that the company has Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean software update for HTC One in development, which is almost complete. According to Kormiltsev's tweet (in Russian), the software update will start rolling in mid-June.

Recently, HTC started pushing out Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean software update to some of its international version of HTC One. However, there is no confirmed news regarding the software release for individual carriers in countries like the U.S., Canada and more.

Individual carriers test their version of the handset with a software release and then roll out a software update. Even though Kormiltsev hints that HTC One will start getting Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean from mid-June onwards, individual carriers may have different release date planned for their handsets.

In the U.S., the HTC One is currently available on AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile. HTC One on all carriers comes running on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. Verizon has confirmed that it will offer the handset but an exact release date for the handset is not known. Rumors also indicate that the upcoming Verizon version of HTC One may come running on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean out of the box.

Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean is expected to bring many enhancements to the HTC One along with some minor update to HTC Sense 5. The software enables long press of the homekey on the lower right of the handset, which will get the menu key instead of Google Now. The update also brings DayDream and battery power level with a percentage indicator next to your battery icon.
