HTC One and HTC Droid DNA will get Android 4.3 by September end

HTC has now confirmed that the HTC One and Droid DNA handsets in the U.S. and Canada will get Android 4.3 by the end of next month.

Recently, HTC's President Jason Mackenzie tweeted that the developer edition of the HTC One will skip Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update and will get the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update instead. Now a recent tweet from Mackenzie confirms that all HTC One and Droid DNA handsets in the U.S. and Canada will also follow the same route as the HTC One developer edition.

"Lots of questions re 4.3 release for One. We r wrking hard (needs cert) to release 4.3 across all US, Canada skus by end Sept. DNA as well," tweeted Mackenzie.

Mackenzie also tweeted that the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update is a minor update to the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and as such, HTC has decided to skip this step and go straight to the latest Jelly Bean flavor.

The HTC One in the U.S. and Canada come pre-loaded with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and only a few select international models of the handset have received the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. Similarly, the Verizon-exclusive Droid DNA also comes with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean straight out of the box. Now both the handsets will skip Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and will get Android 4.3 Jelly Bean instead.

HTC devices are not the only ones which will skip Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. A previous report also indicated that the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy Note 2 will also skip Android 4.2 Jelly Bean software and will get Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. However, Samsung has not confirmed the software update details.

The company's current flagship handset, the Samsung Galaxy S4, is pre-loaded with the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and is still waiting for an update to the latest software version. Customers will hope that the Galaxy S4 also gets a software update as soon as possible.

Android 4.3 Jelly Bean will bring along a number of new features, improvements and bug fixes. For now we can only wait until the latest operating system is rolled out to more Android devices.
