iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C now more attractive with Apple's in-store iPhone upgrade program

Confirming rumors that surfaced recently, Apple has indeed kicked off an iPhone upgrade event in its stores to boost sales of its latest smartphones.

In an effort to attract more iFans to its latest iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C smartphones, Apple has started a new in-store iPhone upgrade program. This move is separate from the company's trade-in program, but similarly allows owners of the iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S to ditch their old devices in favor of the latest ones.

Apple has started to notify iPhone owners of this new promotional program by sending out emails and inviting them to upgrade. In addition to sending out emails to customers, Apple has also reportedly sent out memos to Apple Store employees, instructing them to encourage iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S users to get a new iPhone 5S or iPhone 5C through this new in-store upgrade program.

"It's a beautiful time for an upgrade," touts the email sent to iPhone owners, according to a 9to5Mac report. "You may be eligible for upgrade pricing on a new iPhone. And if you bring in your old iPhone to be recycled, you could get credit toward a new one. Ask us for details," adds the notification email.

As part of this deal, Apple is offering up to $99 credit for the older iPhone 4, and as much as $199 for the iPhone 4S model. Interested customers can use this trade-in value toward the purchase of a new iPhone 5S or iPhone 5C.

The iPhone 5S is Apple's current flagship smartphone, boasting high-end specs and features. It has proved to be very popular and started two popular trends, one for fingerpritn scanners and another for gold color options. The iPhone 5C model, meanwhile, comes with more watered-down specs compared to the flagship, and also sports a plastic design to accommodate a lower price tag.

Apple is widely expected to launch at least one iPhone 6 model this year, finally taking the step toward a bigger display. The iPhone 6, however, is not expected to launch for a few months, and those who don't want to wait for it may find Apple's new deal quite appealing. This in-store iPhone upgrade program is available at Apple Stores across the U.S.
