iPad Mini now $199.99 from Target as part of Father’s Day promotional sale

Target is now slashing $100 off the normal price of the 16GB iPad Mini, selling the tablet for just $199 as part of its Father's Day promotion.

It's worth pointing out that this promotional sale refers to the first-generation iPad Mini, i.e. the one without a Retina display. Also, the offer is only valid in-store, but customers can still make their purchase online and pick up their device from the nearest Target retail location.

Despite the fact that it launched without Apple's "resolutionary" Retina display, which consisted a drawback for some, the original iPad Mini proved to be a great hit among consumers. The slate quickly soared to the top and became one of Apple's most popular products. Apple launched a second-generation iPad Mini with a Retina display in the meantime, but the first iPad Mini is still quite a capable tablet with plenty to offer.

Even without the Retina display, the first-generation iPad Mini sports a neat 7.9-inch LED-backlit display with a resolution of 1024 x 768, packs an A5 chip clocked at 2.4GHz, 512MB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage capacity, and offers up to 10 hours of battery life. Other specs and features include a 5-megapixel iSight camera with 1080p HD video recording, a FaceTime camera for video chats, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, iOS 7 and iCloud, and more than 275,000 apps available on the App Store.

Target is now offering the 16GB non-Retina iPad Mini for $199.99 in either white or space gray color options, as part of a limited-time promotion for Father's Day. The promotion runs through Saturday, June 14, after which the tablet will return to its regular $299.99 pricing.

The retailer seems to have limited quantities available, however, as many stores are currently listing no available stock for the 16GB non-Retina iPad Mini. On Target's website, the white version of the slate seems to be no longer available, as it just returns an error message saying that the product was not found. The space gray model, meanwhile, appears to be still available, but not online.

As previously mentioned, this promotion is valid in-store, so check with your local Target store to take advantage of this attractive offer.
