Apple’s refurbished iPhone store on eBay sells aggressively-priced iPhone 5 with one-year warranty

Apple has teamed up with eBay again and quietly launched a low-profile Factory Outlet store to sell Apple Certified Refurbished products at much lower prices.

This marks the second time Apple teams up with eBAy on a factory outlet store selling refurbished Apple products. The new store sells certified refurbs at very aggressive price points, complete with full Apple warranties good for one year.

AppleInsider was the one to discover the new Factory Outlet eBay Store, which currently lists factory restored and unlocked GSM unlocked iPhone 5 models, with prices ranging between $449 and $499.

This new eBay storefront doesn't specifically mention any Apple involvement, but all signs point to a new partnership between the two companies. For instance, the Apple Certified iPhone 5 units currently available for purchase appear as "exclusive" to this Factory Outlet eBay Store. Each of these units comes with a full one-year Apple Warranty, each has been completely restored, tested, and professionally repackaged, and the site even touts a "final quality inspection performed by Apple." Even without a specific mention, it seems like a great deal of involvement from Apple's part.

The move, however, doesn't come as much of a surprise. Last year eBay launched an Apple Certified Refurbished Products Store for iPads, then pulled it down when the new iPads made their debut. With the next-generation iPhone 6 widely expected to launch in September, it makes sense for Apple to boost the distribution of existing inventory. Currently the Factory Outlet eBay Store lists 6 iPhone 5 models available for purchase, but more devices may join the lineup soon.
