The Sony Xperia Z3 is boasting its waterproof capabilities in a flashier manner, with an intriguing unboxing underwater, at the bottom of a swimming pool.

Sony can be credited for starting this whole trend of making devices at least water-resistant, if not waterproof, and its latest gadgets are all winners in this department. Considering that high-end devices come with prices to match, resistance and durability are paramount to make the investment worthy.

Xperia devices are well-known for their water- and dust-resistance ratings, and a number of entertaining videos have surfaced so far demonstrating just how waterproof Sony smartphones are.

The latest video on this note now comes from Carphone Warehouse, which decided to promote the latest Sony Xperia Z3 by filming an underwater unboxing of the device. More specifically, Carphone Warehouse sent a guy to the bottom of a swimming pool to open up the new Xperia Z3, just because.

The Sony Xperia Z3 is the company's latest flagship smartphone and, as expected, it is resistant to elements just like its predecessors. The new iteration, however, now boasts a higher certification, with IP65 and I68 rating for dust and water resistance, respectively.

Simply put, this means that the smartphone will not be damaged by dust, and it can also withstand being submerged in up to 1.5m of fresh water for up to half an hour, or taking low-pressure jets of water.

With its high water resistance and its top-notch camera, the Sony Xperia Z3 will allow user to take high-quality aquatic photos, without having to worry about damaging the device. It's worth pointing out, however, that all of the smartphone's flaps must be properly closed before getting it wet. Sony will not replace any water-damaged Xperia Z3 if it discovers that the flaps work as intended, but were not properly closed.

In addition to its high dust- and water-resistance ratings, the Sony Xperia Z3 also comes with high-end specs and features all around to make it worthy of the flagship title. The smartphone has already stirred plenty of interest, and this video is bound to make it even more attractive.
