BlackBerry has officially released the highly-anticipated BlackBerry 10.3.1 update, available globally for devices running its BlackBerry 10 operating system.

The update will bring a number of neat additions, changes, and improvements, aiming to enhance the overall experience. BlackBerry 10 OS version 10.3.1 has started rolling out globally on Thursday, Feb. 19, and will reach  the entire BlackBerry 10 range of devices, including the BlackBerry Passport, Z30, Z10, Q10, Q5, Porsche Design P'9983 and P'9982.

"Once downloaded, users will gain access to incredible new enhancements, including BlackBerry® Blend, BlackBerry® Assistant, battery boosting technology, plus improvements to the BlackBerry® Hub, calendar, camera, multimedia and more. This latest version also introduces dual app stores, offering access to hundreds of thousands of apps through the BlackBerry® World® storefront and the Amazon Appstore," the company touted in a press release.

"BlackBerry 10 OS 10.3.1 offers a fresh look that incorporates updated icons and an instant action bar so that each user's most commonly accessed functions are in the center of their screen.

The latest update will include powerful features such as BlackBerry Blend, dual app storefronts, BlackBerry World, Amazon Appstore, BlackBerry Assistant, BlackBerry Hub with Instant Actions, Time Saving Keyboard Shortcuts, more battery power, new camera functions, more ways to edit, create, sort, and listen to media, a new Calendar now with Meeting Mode, BBM Meetings, and other improvements.

BlackBerry 10.3.1 has started rolling out to devices on Feb. 19 in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia Pacific, and will reach all smartphones running BlackBerry 10.

The latest BlackBerry Classic launched with BlackBerry 10.3.1 pre-installed out of the box, and owners of other BlackBerry smartphones have been eagerly waiting for the new OS version to roll out to their devices as well.

As always with new updates, however, keep in mind that the rollout process is gradual and it may take a while to reach all devices. Once the software is ready for download, customers will receive a notification in the BlackBerry Hub. If they have automatic software downloads enabled, they will receive a notification in the BlackBerry Hub that the update is downloading.
