LG's recently announced Magna, Spirit, Leon, and Joy mid-range smartphones are ready to make their global debut, the company just announced.
Back at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 earlier this month, LG didn't announce its much-rumored LG G4 flagship for this year, but it did showcase four new mid-rangers called the LG Magna, LG Spirit, LG Leon, and LG Joy (following the late-February pre-announcement). The company is now ready to start selling the smartphones in South America, followed by Europe, Asia, Middle East Africa, and North America.
"Millions of customers around the world today are seeking reasonably-priced devices that don't sacrifice on looks or features," Juno Cho, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company, touts in a new press release on Monday, March 30. "Our newest mid-range smartphones are designed with both new and experienced users in mind all over the world who know a good deal when they see one."
The LG Magna is the highest-end of the four, albeit it still doesn't go beyond the mid-range category. The handset sports a 5-inch HD display, a quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz or 1.2GHz (3G/LTE models, respectively), 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage capacity, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front shooter, and a 2,540 mAh battery.
The LG Spirit has a 4.7-inch HD display, a 1.2GHz or 1.3GHz processor (3G/LTE, respectively), an 8- or 5-megapixel rear camera depending on market, a 1-megapixel front shooter, and a 2,100 mAh battery.
The LG Leon also comes in both 3G and LTE models, sporting a 4.5-inch FWVGA display and 8GB or 4GB of internal storage capacity, depending on market. The 3G model has a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, 1GB or 768MB of RAM depending on market, an 8- or a 5-megapixel rear camera depending on market, and a VGA front shooter. The LTE model has a 1.2GHz quad-core CPU, 1GB of RAM regardless of market, 8GB of storage, a 5-megapixel rear camera, and a VGA front shooter.
Lastly, the LG Joy does not come in an LTE model, and it looks like the most affordable one of the bunch based on its modest specifications. The handset features a 4-inch WVGA display, a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage capacity, a 5-megapixel rear camera, and a VGA front shooter.
All smartphones will ship with Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box, except for the lower-end LG Joy, which will ship with Android 4.4 KitKat.
LG has yet to mention exact pricing details for the new LG Magna, LG Spirit, LG Leon, and LG Joy, but more information should become available closer to launch. Pricing will vary by market.
