'Google Glass 2.0' May be In Testing

A new eye wearable device may be coming soon from Google. In New York, media reports say that the US-based company has a new device for the eye, under the Federal Communications Commission of the United States.

The FCC has approved of the company's new device, known as GG1. The commission has also granted Google confidentiality for the new device. But the few details written describing the new device under the commission's file are indicative of a new Google Glass model.

The GG1 is said to be placed in a rectangular glass, and is scrolled left to right, the mechanism for Google Glass. Business Insider reports that the new device has an unchangeable battery, a wi-fi and bluetooth.

Google stopprd marketing the $1500 Glass last January. Many thought that the device was as good as dead. But executives of the company said that Google has plans of releasing new models of the Google Glass.

It has also been reported in April that Glass will be launching its new line of wearable products soon. Italian eyewear company Luxottica announced its continuing partnership with Google that month.

Luxottica's Ray-Ban and Oakley have been said to be part of the collaboration for new models of the smart eyewear.

Recently, Microsoft has also been upping the marketing strategy for its HoloLens. The device has even become a topic of news as it has been tested by NASA recently. Speculators say it os unlikely for Google to allow Microsoft to take on the wearables department to itself.

Thus, buzz about GG1 being a Google Glass 2.0 is still persistent. And it appears, as Google chief executive Eric Schmidt says, that Glass is nowhere near dead. The tech giant has not divulged further details regarding its new device. Rumours are pointing to a launch late this year.
