Nintendo 3DS Has New Cover Plates

When you own a gadget, you can't help but want to customize it. From signing in to all your social media accounts, to syncing email messages, contacts and other files like photos and documents, to picking out apps and games and choosing cute cases and covers...you name it; you do it. Usually, phones, tablets and laptops are the gadgets that get the customization treatment. Nintendo's portable gaming console, the Nintendo 3DS model, also allows users to do the same.

Nintendo's online store is selling ten new cover plate designs. According to Polygon, the designs feature popular Nintendo game characters like Pikachu and Kirby. The range also includes K.K. Slider and a variety of colors and patterns. New Nintendo 3DS owners can also purchase the Legend of Zelda cover plate. Prices of the cover plates range from $9.99 to $16.99. To date, Nintendo has sold over 60 cover plate designs.

The new portable game device has just arrived in North America on Friday, Sept. 25. According to Destructoid, the gadget comes with a couple of cover plates which the user can change and match according to his mood. The pack-ins come in the Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer and it is the only package through which the 3DS can be bought. The bundle costs $299. The swappable cover plates that come with the plan feature characters from Animal  Crossing: Happy Home Designer.

The new Nintendo 3DS has been announced to be coming to the region late last month. The new version of the portable gaming device has begun selling in the United States in February this year. On Friday, the Japanese game company has begun selling an NFC accessory which can work with both Nintendo 2DS and Nintendo 3DS models. The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Zero game will be released by the company on Oct. 23.

Nintendo has recently named its new president after the sudden death of its late leader, Satoru Iwata, last July. Tatsumi Kimishima, who has held many leadership positions in and out of Nintendo, has been appointed president earlier this month. The announcement followed the celebration of Super Mario's thirtieth anniversary. The well-loved character is one of Nintendo's most successful game series of all time.
