Motorola's 2016 Moto G And G Plus Mix Low-End Prices With High-End Tech

Waterproof, powerful and affordable, Motorola Moto G and G Plus are among the best budget phones around.

According to Engadget, Motorola also has announced a third Moto G version called the Moto G Play. This makes the fourth generation of the company's budget smartphone.

The three Motorola Moto G phones are called Moto G4, Moto G4 Plus and Moto G4 Play. The new Motorola lineup is a bit confusing, since the G4 Play is a different device entirely, while the G4 and G4 Plus are riffs on one thing.

According to CNet, the 2016 G4 and G4 Plus implement many changes from the 2015 G. For instance, the new Moto G Plus version comes with a 16-megapixel camera and a fingerprint sensor. For faster focusing and taking speedy snaps, its camera pairs with a laser-enabled autofocus. Both models feature a 1080p 5.5-inch panel.

As before, the Moto G and Moto G Plus will be available in a wide variety of colors. Customers can customize their looks by using Motorola's online Moto Maker tool.

Both Motorola's new Moto G phones run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Because Motorola's Android is not customized much, it is easy and fast to use.

Motorola Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus feature a 3,000mAh battery that provides up to 24 hours of "mixed use." Both smartphones are powered by an octa-core processor.

The 2016 version of Moto G and Moto G Plus provide 16GB, 32GB or 64GB storage options that are selectable online using the Moto Maker tool. The same online tool can be used for choosing between 2GB, 3GB or 4GB RAM options.

In the U.K., the Moto G4 goes on sale in early June and it will cost a mere £169. The Plus will cost £199 and will be available shortly afterward. Motorola did not announced yet the prices on the U.S. market, but the Moto G4's price converts to about $245, while the Plus' price converts to about $285.
