'Gran Turismo Sport' Gameplay Trailer, Release Date Revealed

Racing fans, rejoice! Sony has just released a gameplay trailer and a release date for the much-awaited racing game 'Gran Turismo Sport'.

The gameplay trailer was launched at the "Gran Turismo Sport Unveiling Event", which was held on May 19 in London. The full event was also made available via live stream on the Sony PlayStation channel. (The video is now unlisted.)

Fans of the Gran Turismo franchise has long been waiting for a new game to come out. The last one was Gran Turismo 6, which was released on the Playstation 3 in 2013. Gran Turismo Sport is the first PS4 title in the Gran Turismo series, making it the first new-gen title as well.

However, this is not the Gran Turismo 7 that the fans are waiting for, as Gran Turismo Sport is a standalone game and is not part of the main series.

According to Videogamer, the game boasts just over 130 shiny race cars, which includes both real-world and fantasy vehicles. Gamesradar reports that GT Sport focused on supercars rather than the conventional consumer grade vehicles. The game will also include 19 tracks, the return of the dirt track, and 27 possible layouts.

GT Sport will also be compatible with Sony's PlayStation VR headset and will be the first game in the series to do so.

While the game trailer earned high praises from various news sites, it got mixed reactions from fans. Being the first new-gen title for GT, players have high expectations for the game. While it gave fans the much-needed eye candy that they craved for since GT6, some have doubted whether the game is really suitable for the PS4, with some Youtube commenters saying that the graphics and gameplay are no different from GT6. Some are hoping this is the early stages of the game, and the final product would come out with more improvements.

Would it be a great racing game? Fans will find out in a few months. Gran Turismo Sport will be released for the PS4 on November 15 in the U.S., Japan, and in the U.K. on November 18.
