Here's How To Play Gameboy With Your Android Phone

There are plenty of gaming consoles available now and each comes with its own perks and benefits, but a classic can never be beat. More than just the nostalgia it satisfies, classics have with them a simplicity that just is not found in present day devices. This is exactly why people are thrilled when gadgets from the past somehow find their way into the present.

Most recently, Hyperkin, a tech company, has made it possible for Android phone users to attach a gadget that turns their phone into a the popular handheld console, the Game Boy.

According to Highsnobiety, the company has started to take pre-orders for the device, which they have named the Smart Boy Development Kit. It costs $60 and will be available just before the holidays hit.

Original, the gadget was meant to work for both iPhone and Android devices. However, Hyperkin made it very clear that it would be exclusive to Android phones at the recently concluded Electronic Entertainment Expo. Truth be told, only Android users would be able to get the full feel of the gaming experience - this is not just a preference for one over the other.

There are a lot of Game Boy emulators available for purchase, with some free ones as well, on the Google Play Store. Hyperkin would also have to work with the restrictions of an iPhone when it comes to customization.

As Engadget points out, Hyperkin actually teased the idea last year. Luckily enough, the company put its money where its mouth was, releasing the only gadget in the market can satisfy the need to play on the original Game Boy, without having to pay out as much money as buying an original that is still working.

The Smart Boy Development Kit even comes with the same large buttons found in the original Game Boy.
