Is The Price Of HTC’s Desire 530 Worth The Spec Sacrifice?

The newest addition to HTC's Desire series, the Desire 530, was announced earlier in the year. By the end of the month, the same unit will be made available in the US market. The design is both simple and unique, which definitely makes the Desire 530 stand out from its competitors. However, the specs of the unit truly support its price tag.

An unlocked HTC Desire 530 is entering the US market at only $179. However T-Mobile and Verizon will have their own offerings in the same at a later date.

As reported by C|Net, the design of the 530 is slick and is only 8.3mm when on profile. The back is flecked with paint in what HTC describes as a "multi splash" design. Buyers will get a choice of Blue Lagoon, Sprinkle White and Stratus White as the backdrops of the paint flecks.

The specs truly are nothing compared to the bigger players currently in the market. The display is 5 inches, with a 1280 x 720 pixel resolution. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor and runs on only 1.5GB of RAM. It has 16GB of internal memory, but is expandable to 256GB through a microSD chip.

The battery is 2200mAh, which should be enough to last the entire day with average use. The rear camera is 8 megapixels and the front is 5 megapixels. The front camera comes with an "Auto Selfie" and "Voice Selfie" features. These features are meant to make self photos easier to take, as the photo can be snapped with a voice command instead physically pressing a button.

According to The Verge, the 530 is the smallest in its series, following the 630 and the 825. The earlier offerings have slightly better performances with the same paint-flecked design. The Desire 530 definitely does not have the system for showing off and its ultimate highlight really is its pricing.
