Android 7.0 Nougat Opens Doors For Better iPhone Compatibility

Ever since the rise of smartphones, users have never felt more deprived when it comes to compatibility issues between the Android and iOS operating systems. It's like people can never mix the two. Importing stuff from one place to another seems like a big mystery that has to be Googled every time the need to import arises.

Luckily, it looks like these operating systems are improving on this issue from one update to another. A new report from GSMarena says that the new Android Nougat now allows for a better iOS to Android migrate.

Migrating From Android To iOS

As per the report, a user who did a factory reset on a Nexus 6P discovered a new option in his phone that is pretty much unexpected. With the recent Android update, it appears that an iOS import option has been made available from Nougat.

Sure, there have been lots of online tutorials to do this, but the current option is far more straightforward than previous methods. As per GSMarenas's post, it would be seen that there is an option that says "Bring your data from..." giving users two options: 1. "Your Google Account" and 2. "An iPhone(TM) or iPad(TM) device".

What's The Catch?

This migration option isn't exactly a tool as everyone hopes it would be. That would be too perfect of a scenario. So, what exactly happens when you click on that number 2 option? Well, as per the report, the transfer won't be as easy as using the Samsung Smart Switch migrator. Instead, you'll be getting organized directions for the transfer.

For example, for email, you will be asked to install your email app from the Google Play. You will also be asked to install an email app that would support IMAP and POP3 if you want your iCloud email to be 'transferred'. It may sound a bit disappointing but this is actually already is a big step. Smartphone users don't see these two OS's mention each other quite often. So these instructional guides are already a big thing.

Take note that when trying to import emails, the directions also come with a reminder to turn off your iMessage before you change your SIM. It's a simple reminder, but this may be one of the rare times a mention about each other's' feature has been done in one of these big operating systems.

Transferring Files From iOS To Android In The Nougat Update

To transfer iTunes, you would have to sync your Apple device to your iTunes on a PC. Then when the back up on PC has been created, you should install Google Play Music manager on your PC as well. Basically, you will still need to take multiple steps to do an import, but at least Android already understands the struggle, thus providing its users the organized instructions that they need. It's not the ultimate import tool, but it certainly is something.

The Android Nougat update has everyone excited and looking forward to finally download it. Whether or not the update is a good one, it's still arguable. However, The Verge states that the update is great. However, it's not really about whether Nougat is good or not, but all about how repetitive the cycle is for Android updates.
