Britney Spears To Sue Tabloid For False Story About MTV Video Music Awards

Britney Spear's legal team are ready to sue tabloid Touch Weekly, should they publish a false story that allegedly happened during the MTV Video Music Awards last month. According to the reports, the singer was "talking and laughing to herself and using a British accent" and behaving differently.

The singer's lawyer has already sent a letter to the magazine saying the story is not true and "highly defamatory and completely offensive" to her. Unfortunately, Touch Weekly said that they will still publish the piece.

Spear's comeback performance in MTV VMA this year wasn't received well by the audience. Many were criticizing her for lip-syncing and lacking energy in the performance. In addition, there was a scene where G-Eazy almost kissed Britney that made fans talk about it on social media. The singer cleared that rumor saying there was no kiss and that he has a girlfriend.

In one of her interviews, Spears admitted being nervous for her performance "It's just something in the air at the VMAs, it's like electric. I can't really explain it. Every time I've performed there it's always been one of these nerve-racking experiences."

This isn't the singer's first time performing in MTV's VMA. She first performed 1999 with NSYNC, another in 2000 for "Oops!... I Did it Again", "I'm a Slave 4 U" in 2001, the controversial performance with Madonna, Christina Aguilera, and Missy Elliot in 2003 and "Gimme More" in 2007.

Spears has gone through a lot in her personal life. In her Marie Claire cover story, the singer explained how she handled her disorder and how she is these days. She says "I was so under scrutiny. If a hair was out of place, I'd be so anxious. I would get very anxious about so many things."

"Becoming a mother and being with my boys [Jayden, 9, Sean Preston, 10] has made me so much more accepting of myself." Britney Spears is now a mother of 2 boys, Sean Preston, 10 and Jayden, 9.
