PS4 Pro News: The Last Of Us Remastered Will Support Native 4K But There's A Catch

Sony has revealed the PlayStation 4 Pro last week and showed off a bunch of games that should be compatible with it. In order to harness the full potential of the PS4 Pro's prowess plus the ability to boost up gameplay experience (4K TV needed), game devs will need to up the original PS4 titles with 4K patches.

The Last of Us Remastered is one of the confirmed games that will get the 4K treatment for the PS4 giving it the ability to run native 4K with the PS4 Pro, GameZone.com reports..

In the video posted by Digital Foundry, The Last of Us Remastered seems to be not running under native 4K as they played the demo. Though they tried toggling the HDR and 1080P on and off and could see performance differences - leaning towards good.

So what's the issue?

Unfortunately The Last of Us Remastered is locked on to 30fps but it still will enhance shadow map details and run native 4K.

To quote:

"The PS4 version has that 30Hz mode, which has higher-resolution shadow maps, but otherwise it's just a locked 30fps. "

It has been an ongoing debate whether or not 30fps is enough for gaming as it is claimed that the human eye could not notice the difference between 30fps or anything higher than that. Many gamers would still want to experience full 60fps and considers it as the modern benchmark for gaming.

Other old games running at 4K for the PS4 Pro?

Aside from The Last of Us Remastered, WCCFTech.com reports that The Elder Scroll's online is also going to get the 4K treatment as well as other games still groomed up for 4K Patches.

As of this writing, it is uncertain if all games getting 4K patches will be stuck with 30fps or not.
