Nintendo News: Someone Just Built A Mini-SNES Inspired After The Mini-NES

This holiday season, Nintendo will be relaunching the classic NES as a standalone console packed with 30 built-in games that will surely bring back good old memories of the 8-bit era.

The console is now up at Amazon, and its status jumps back-and-forth from 'for pre-order' to 'unavailable'. This mini-NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) fits perfectly in your hand and would plug directly into an HDMI port.

Any possibility of an SNES version?

Well, let's just say somebody beat Nintendo to it by creating a mini-SNES with his own bare hands. It is, however, important to note that this isn't for sale for very obvious reasons. Nintendo lawyers have been known for shooting down copyright violators.

Check out Hugo "lyberty5" Dorison's mini-SNES, a home project that's worth taking a look, eurogamer.com reports.

His build consists of a Raspberry Pi Zero, USB hub, lots and lost of solder and a clay outer skin, which is then carved and painted to create a miniature version of the classic SNES (Super Nintendo Entertainment System).

The mini-SNES contains games such as Yoshi's Island, Kirby Super Star, and Doom. These classic 16 bit games make you want to open your computer and load them on an emulator for a nostalgia trip.

As you can also observe on the video, we got to give kudos to this man for his steady hands crafting the SNES shell without the assistance of the modern 3D printer.

Will this be on sale anytime soon

There isn't any official word yet from Nintendo if they have even heard of this masterpiece or considering it for mass production but for now, you can enjoy the mini-NES coming out this Nov. 11 at $60 USD / £50.
