'Marco Polo' Season 3 Updates: Production For Renewal Too Expensive; Series Returns In Another Network Instead?

There still hasn't been any confirmation about the renewal of "Marco Polo" for its third season. This may allegedly be led by the fact that production of the series has been extremely expensive and might not match the ratings that the network targeted.

High Production Cost Of "Marco Polo" Causing Cancellation Of The Series On Netflix?

It is no surprise that Netflix original series "Marco Polo" has been named as one of the most expensive shows to produce. The series is set at a historical time, trying to grasp every possible historical concept.

Even though "Marco Polo" has been listed as the second most-watched original series and has turned into an extreme success, it may not still be enough to renew it for another season, given its high production cost.

However, when talking to the actors of the series, they are all looking forward to continue the show for more seasons; especially after the last season's finale where Marco Polo (Lorenzo Richemy) and Kublai Khan (Benedict Wong) are faced with a new powerful villain.

"Marco Polo" Possible To Be Renewed In A New Network Instead

Since the reports of "Marco Polo" cancellation have been going around for a while now, there have also been speculations that when renewed, it will be done in a new network. During a roundtable interview with TV executives, Netflix representative and other networks' CEO, it has allegedly been discussed that "Marco Polo" television series was able to deliver well to the audience. However, the conclusion to the discussion, whether the series is up for a renewal or not, was not disclosed to the public.

Collaboration between networks has been possible in the industry even though they may be considered rivals at some point. It has been a healthy competition, thus renewal of "Marco Polo" in another network could still do good for the production team behind it.

While the ratings and critical responses of the series are still being studied up to this point, the fans of "Marco Polo" will have to wait for the official announcement of its third season.
