'Super Mario Adventures' Gets Graphic Novel Adaptation; Set To Release This October

The phenomenal "Super Mario Adventures" will make a comeback as it gets a graphic novel release on October 11 as announced by Viz Media.

The said graphic novel will tell the classic tale of the peril-plagued Princess Toadstool being kidnapped by Bowser. The moustached plumbers, Mario and Luigi come up with a plan with their new friend Yoshi to rescue her. Can the trio stop the Koopa King from forcing the Princess to be his bride?

"This fantastic new edition will delight legions of video game, pop culture and comic fans with imaginative adventures inspired by Mario and Luigi from the classic Super Mario Bros. games," says Beth Kawasaki, Senior Editorial Director for Viz Media. "Join the fun as gaming's most legendary pair of brothers attempt to rescue Princess Peach from the clutches of the Koopa King!"

"Super Mario Brothers" will be presented in full color and inspired by the bestselling Nintendo video game franchise. The story is written by Kentaro Takekuma and artwork by Charlie Nozawa. The comics originally ran in Nintendo Power magazine in 1992-1993.

The Mario character debuted in 1981 in Nintendo's original Donkey Kong arcade game and eventually landed its own franchise with more than 310 million units sold globally.

Fans will get a chance to attend the Launch Party at Nintendo NY in Rockefeller Center on Friday, Oct. 7 from 6pm-8pm. The event will treat attendees with themed cupcakes, a photo-op with Mario and Luigi as well as an autograph and Q & A session with VIP guest from Viz Media. Early buyers of the "Super Mario Adventures" will also get an exclusive poster.

"Super Mario Adventures" will be available in a single-volume edition with a remastered full-color print release for $14.99.
