'The Young And The Restless' Updates And Spoilers: Sally Sussman Returns As Head Writer; No Recast For Adams Role?

"The Young And The Restless" former story consultant Sally Sussman is coming back to the daytime drama as the show's head writer. Meanwhile Melissa Claire Egan, who plays Adam's wife, Chelsea, hinted that there will be no other Adam on the Show.

"Sally was part of the team that first brought Y&R to its long-standing position as America's No. 1 daytime drama and brings with her years of experience writing serialized storylines," said EVP Programming for Sony Pictures Television Steve Kent, Deadline reported."Her long-standing familiarity with the citizens of Genoa City and her great storytelling make her a perfect choice to take the reins at Y&R."

She is also the former head writer of "Days Of Our Lives and MTV's "Spyder Games," which both earned her a nomination at Emmy's and the most recent "Midnight Return: The Story of Billy Hayes and Turkey," a documentary feature which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival this year.

Sally Sussman will replace Chuck Pratt, who will leave for Lee Daniels' series "Star" to be aired on Fox.

No Recast for Adam?

In a recent interview Egan responded to Adam's potential return on "The Young and The Restless."

"I really don't think they will (go there), and I'm not just saying that. There are a lot of stories to tell and lots of people here. Chelsea is in mourning right now. I truly don't think there is going to be another Adam ... but, who knows? As of now, I don't think there is a plan to," Egan said, reported CDL.

While the actress is too careful with her words, no recast means Adam may only the resurrected by the three actors who had already portrayed him. Chris Engen who first played Adam on 2008-2009, Michael Muhney handled the role in 2009, and Justin Hartley who took over from 2014 until this summer.

In this case Engen and fan favorite Muhney will be more likely to have the role. Muhney has previously hinted his return to "The Young and The Restless" but didn't mention what his role will be.

Hartley, on the other hand might only return if his new show "This Is Us" does not became successful or maybe as a part-time guest cast who will only be featured in few episodes.
