Nintendo Europe Website May Have Leaked Launch Date For 'Zelda: Breath Of The Wild' Amiibo

The backend codes for Nintendo's websites for Europe might have spilled information about the release date of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild's amiibo figures.

A bit of info

For the benefit of all uninformed, amiibo is Nintendo's protocol for wireless storage and communications, for application between compatible figurines based on a videogame or any Nintendo character, and/or the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS platforms. It was rolled out in November 2014 in the via software updates and with a series of Amiibo-enabled figures.

Amiibo can be directly paired with the New Nintendo 3DS series and Wii U GamePad. The rest of Nintendo 3DS series require an adapter. 36.9 million Amiibo have been sold, with it are 28.9 million Amiibo cards.

Back to the story

Based on the data in numerous Nintendo of Europe sites, and as originally reported on Reddit - which by the way, is the leading source of speculations to most likely become true, the 3 Breath of the Wild amiibo are tagged within the source code implying  a release date of 3/4/2017. IGN has confirmed the presence of this date string in the site's backend code and also on the French and UK websites, as sampled in the screenshots below:

What does this mean?

Well, aside from the launch dates being accurate and associated for the amiibo figures, that's pretty much about it. At least those who are saving up for it can properly plan out their costs and savings.

The data could also hint the release date for 3 amiibo figures which are Rider Link, Guardian, and Archer Link. The mined dates could also mean some other major releases. When visiting the individual pages though, the date information only says '2017'

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be out by March 2017, as to specific date, no word from Nintendo about it yet. Nintendo amiibo figures are often released before or after the actual release of the game. So this date (3/4/2016), if proven correct for the amiibo roll out, may not specify the launch date of the game itself or forthcoming system.
