Google Trips: The New Google Travel App Is Here

You read that right- the new Google Travel smartphone app is here and it's going to be awesome. Google Trips allows you to create an itinerary including flight information, car reservations, hotel reservations, restaurant recommendations, and local attractions- all these you can retrieve from your email while you set to see and explore the world.

"The bottom line is - people spend a lot of money on travel and the more Google can get them to consider them as a go-to place for travel information, the more opportunity Google will have to show them travel-related ads," Danny Sullivan, founding editor of Search Engine Land and Google observer said.

The new smartphone app will serve as your trip planner and travel guide. Thru Gmail, Google Trips provides travel information to help you create an overview of your trip. The app assists you in deciding which directions to take depending on the itinerary you have prepared.

Google map will guide travellers of the different stops especially in unfamiliar places. Don't have internet or a WiFi to connect to? Google Trips is viewable offline or even without an internet connection.

Google Trips makes itself known, thru Google, in the travel market. The app also steps up to compete with TripAdvisor Inc. and Yelp Inc.- some of the most used travel and review apps.

Steve Kaufer, TriAdvisor Chief Executive Officer, previously noted the potential of Google as a potential "serious threat."

Airbnb Inc., a home-sharing app, has a trip-planning app also on its way. Google Trips is yet another reason for people to use Google's Gmail and Maps apps that feed data into Trips.

According to Greg Sterling, vice president of strategy of Local Search Association, Google Trips also aims to harvest more data to target ads aside from providing an effective travelling tool.

Google Trips will be available on Monday both in iOS and Android.
