Pokemon Go Update: Multiplayer Battle Mode, Trading System Coming Soon

Pokemon Go developer Niantic is planning to add new features in the game. Additional modes include an in-game trading system and possible multiplayer battle options.

Pokemon Go Trading System

Niantic Labs President John Hanke announced earlier that a Pokemon Go trade system will be set up in the game. In fact, the trading rules are already contained in Niantic's Term of Service. Unfortunately, there is no official date set for this upcoming feature.

Pokemon Go Multiplayer Battle Feature

No less than Pokemon Company CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara confirmed that a Pokemon Go multiplayer battle mode is in the works, according to the Wall Street Journal. He also said that Niantic Lab is following a strict timetable for every new feature's release. The seemingly slow release of new Pokemon GO mode is to make sure that players are not "overwhelmed".

Niantic representative Archit Bhargava earlier reported that they have been trying out the Pokemon Go multiplayer battle mode. They were optimistic about it but conceded that the mode is far from complete, according to GameSpot.

Pokemon Go Multiplayer Battle Details

Niantic is currently working out on a scheme on how to implement multiplayer battle mode in Pokemon Go. One way is to let two players from different teams join in gym battles in order to take down a gym defender. Bhargava said that the Niantic team is still exploring other options for multiplayer battle mode.

Pokemon Go Planned Expansion

Pokemon Go was a global phenomenon that surprised even Niantic Labs and Nintendo. The mobile app game was downloaded more than 500 million times. The only major countries that have not officially enjoyed this game yet are China and South Korea. Ishihara would like to see Pokemon Go played in these countries. However, their current national security laws limit the use of Google Maps which is necessary for Pokemon Go game.
