'Resident Evil: Vendetta' CG Animated Film To Be Produced By 'The Grudge' Creator

Fans of the "Resident Evil" series are feeling lucky this year. A new "Resident Evil" game is coming to the PS4 and PS4 Pro, and Capcom's smash hit franchise will also have a new CG movie.

A new animated "Resident Evil" film, titled "Resident Evil: Vendetta," will head to theaters in spring 2017, and its trailer promises all the awesome things fans have come to love about the franchise.

The first animated "Resident Evil" film came out in 2008, titled "Degeneration," which was then followed up by "Resident Evil: Damnation" in 2012.

This upcoming movie will be taking place after the events of "Resident Evil 6" and before the events of the forthcoming "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard."

Players who have played "Resident Evil 6" will have an advantage in understanding deeply the events that will unfold in "Vendetta."

Marza Animation Planet collaborated with Capcom in producing the film. Reports of the fans' reaction on the trailer say that Capcom has a hit in its hands when the film finally arrives in theaters.

The short teaser of the film revealed classic "Resident Evil" characters like Chris Redfield in his full battle uniform and Leon Kennedy in his usual brooding moods.

Plenty of evil surprises and intense scenes await fans who will choose to see the movie's 90-second trailer.

The movie offers a strong nostalgic feel because the film begins at the notorious Spencer Mansion which became famous during the first "Resident Evil."

"Resident Evil: Vendetta" was first made known to the public during the Tokyo Game Show in October last year.

Capcom said that fans are in for a treat because their beloved game will have a new movie that they can scream to their heart's content inside dark theaters.

The company further said that the forthcoming CG film will pay homage to the 20-year-old survival horror franchise game which has set the bar for horror games both in consoles and PCs. The veteran game company also said that they had a close and deep involvement in the story development of the movie.

The "Resident Evil: Vendetta" story was written by Makoto Fukami and directed by Takanori Tsujimoto.

Hiroyuki Kobayashi, who has been a producer in past "Resident Evil" games, serves as the supervising producer.

Takashi Shimizu, the creator of hit horror movie "The Grudge," is executive producing the film.

The movie will debut in Japan in the spring of 2017. The date of the film's international release has yet to be announced.
