The finale of “The Last Ship” season 3 was marked with a terrifying death and a sad departure.

Looking on the brighter side is the survival of the main Captain Tom Chandler (Eric Dane). To recall,Tex (John Pyper-Ferguson) risked his life and caught the bullet that was intended for Tom when Allison (Elisabeth Rohm) attempted to kill him. Shocked with the turn of events, the officer quickly resigned from his post and that unexpected act stunned the followers of the show.

Chandler may personify the brave leader that he should be especially for his team but he’s the one greatly affected with the devastating death of Tex. To have someone risked his life for another’s existence is absolutely a noble act of a lifetime.

According to showrunner Steven Kane, the demise of Tex is emotionally killing Chandler.

"We thought that of all the characters that could have had some sort of breakdown or just felt the most burdens, it would be Chandler," Kane said.

A report mentioned that actor Eric Dane revealed the changes that his character will undergo in the fourth installment of the post-apocalyptic action drama.

"Tom has been on three very different, personal journeys between season one and three. Season four will probably be about Chandler's journey back to consciousness. It's going to be like an epic, mythical-type odyssey. You're going to dig it," Dane said.

It looks like the viewers will be seeing Tom in his pre-captain period where he’s comfortably living and enjoying the perks of a normal life as an ordinary citizen and has to recover from the tragic incident. He may have to face battles again but this time it will be different.

Will Chandler wear the hat of a regular citizen and fully let go of his duties from the US Navy?
