Nexus 6 Finally Gets Official Android 7.0 Nougat Update

After the Nougat 7.0 made its way out through the Nexus series (5X, Nexus 9 WiFi) and other google devices, it seems that the Nexus 6 owners have seen great delays when it comes to the Android 7.0 Nougat update. However, it looks like the phone will finally be getting its official software update.

The said update this month will bring the latest security patch, Android Authority reported. Since the whole file weighs over 850 MB, users might need to get ready for a heavy download and lengthy waiting time.

Why Was Android Nougat Late to Nexus 6?

Google previously announced that the updates will be hitting Nexus devices in August and promised that it would arrive on the Nexus 6 "in weeks". However, the rollout was delayed and while google has yet to confirm the reason, rumors say that the update caused excessive battery drain.

Now the problem is fixed. Google posted an Android 7.0 Nougat factory image and a flashable over-the-air (OTA) file on Monday. Other users claimed to have reported that their device received an update. As for Google's Nexus 9, the Nougat update halted because of the same battery problems.

The rollout of Nougat 7.0 to the Nexus 6 comes hours ahead of Google's much hyped hardware event today at which users witness the launch of the firm's Pixel and Pixel XL phones, the Inquirer reported.

Google Pixel, Pixel XL Leaked Ahead of Event

Just yesterday, Google Pixel and Pixel XL had their full specs leaked by a British Retailer, Carphone Warehouse. Both phones will come in 5- and 5.5-inch screens, USB Connectivity, Qualcomm Snapdragon 821, 12MP and 8MP cameras and a 32GB or 228GB storage capacity.

Prices will be released after the Google's launch event kicks off today.
