Xiaomi Mi Box: 4K Android Streaming Box Now in the US

Xiaomi is known for affordable smartphones, but it is expanding its market by offering new products. Now, Xiaomi has officially entered the U.S. market with its latest Xiaomi Mi Box. The "Apple of China" seems to be serious about conquering the U.S. market.

Xiaomi's Mi Box was originally launched on Google I/O last May. After five months of the announcement, the device is ready to wow the U.S. consumers.

Features Of Xiaomi Mi Box

Xiaomi Mi Box is a streaming device that offers 4K video and 60 frames per second (FPS) with Dolby Digital Plus audio playback and high dynamic range (HDR) content. Xiaomi's Global Vice President Hugo Barra stated that its company's latest product is the best in terms of streaming quality.

According to Mashable, Xiaomi Mi Box is almost as big as a normal wallet, only thicker, heavier and comes in matte black. The back of the device houses HDMI, USB, audio and power ports. Technically, it looks to be offering the same functionalities as Apple's and Google's streaming devices.

Xiaomi Mi Box has a memory of 8 GB but can be upgraded with the USB port. Xiaomi formed partnership with Google by including in its system Cast and Voice Search, according to Droid Life. Xiaomi Mi Box can compete with Roku's streaming box.

Xiaomi Mi Box' Edge

Xiaomi teased its future consumers about the freebies that will come with Mi Box. The price of the device is $69 but those who will be buying it will get $50 of Sling TV credits, a three-month of Pandora trial and $5 Vudu credit.

Compared to its competitors such as Roku's slate of top boxes, Amazon's $80 Fire TV and Apple TV, Xiaomi Mi Box which has 4K video will be a head turner in a report on Tech Crunch.
