Is Microsoft's Band 3 Still Coming?

Microsoft tried its chances in creating fitness trackers, but they have recently pulled out of the race when they discontinued their Band brand. In light of this news, the Band 3 is not coming anymore.

Microsoft may removed its fitness trackers out of the market but it will rename its health app.

Say Goodbye To Microsoft's Band

Microsoft's Band was launched last 2014 and dubbed the best fitness tracker in the market. With the tech giant's description of its fitness band, the surprising fact is that the consumers described the predecessors of Band 3 as uncomfortable, awkward and plain, in a report from Press Telegraph.

Now, they have pulled the plug on the brand and has even withdrew the Band software development kit (SDK) last Monday.

Despite discontinuing Band production, Microsoft promised the users to support their Band 2 through Microsoft stores and other means of updating the wearable tech. The tech giant will still focus on Microsoft Health platform.

Experts discovered that Band products are not the major focus of Microsoft, but what is behind it. The tech giant wanted to investigate and to study what it can bring to its health project and cloud services, according to Learn Bonds.

Microsoft's Bets On Wearable Tech

The wearable tech market is projected to an estimated $34 billion within the next four years. It is understandable why the Redmond-based company wanted to enter the market, but apparently the Band is not a profitable product for them.

Experts said that entertainment, media and communications (EMC), health, retail and technology need to think how they can use wearable techs as marketing strategies for their products.

"Businesses must evolve their existing mobile-first strategy to now include the wearable revolution and deliver perceived value to the consumer in an experiential manner," said Deborah Bothun, PricewaterhouseCoopers P.w.C. U.S. advisory EMC leader.
