The long stretch before "The Originals" season 4 resumes airing may be agonizing, but the showrunners are pretty confident that fans will love the upcoming season of "The Vampire Diaries" spin-off. The fate of the Mikaelson family hangs in the balance. Someone from the past will come to save Klaus Mikaelson, but the new season won't be about reconciliation and redemption. Instead, viewers should stay tuned for season 4 will showcase friends and family turning their backs on each other.

"The Originals" Season 4 Premiere Spoilers

Following a five-year time jump from "The Originals" season 3 finale, Klaus (Joseph Morgan) remains to be in a pain-induced coma. The rest of his family is suspended in a dream-like state and since five years already passed, his daughter Hope had grown up. Given how helpless Klaus is in his state, there are speculations that Hope is the key to his freedom.

However, more fans are clamoring for "The Vampire Diaries" and "The Originals" crossover with Caroline turning up to save Klaus from a living nightmare. The passion between Klaus and Caroline had been a central plot in TVD season 3 but it was cut off when Morgan decided to stick with the spinoff. The only goodbye between the two was over the phone so it's not surprising why fans want them to rekindle their love or finally have some closure.

Switching Loyalties, Brand New Foes

It has been reported that betrayal would take center stage in "The Originals" season 4. There are rumors that friends would turn their backs on each other and there's the matter of someone in the family willing to put everyone else at risk.

Even if Klaus escapes from the Tunde Blade nightmare, he is bound to have a rough time in keeping his family in check. Klaus would have to face Marcel when he snaps out of his pain but they might also have to team up when another vampire bent on revenge attacks his family.

With so much going on, "The Originals" season 4 would have much to look forward to. New episodes are expected to be out by January 2017.
