Publisher Deep Silver has revealed the first official trailer for its upcoming horror title "Dead Island: Riptide."

The new trailer is all about the music, the emotional condition of the characters, the desperation, the carefully selected camera angles, and the fact that a good day can so easily turn into a horrible nightmare.

Per the publisher, "Dead Island: Riptide" is a spin-off and not a sequel to the first "Dead Island" game, and takes place in the island of Palanai on the Banoi archipelago. The place is crawling with Zombies and only a few remaining Survivors are fighting for their lives.

The upcoming game is set to introduce new terrifying enemies, lethal weapons with improved proficiency, a new playable character, new vehicles, fresh levels and weather conditions , evolved multiplayer, and hub defense game mechanics.

Also, players will now be able to import their characters from the first "Dead Island" title, and the game, this time, will be much more weapons-oriented instead of melee, making this edition more action oriented than the original version.

The in-game characters that have been revealed thus far include Logan (a former American football star), Xian (an employee at the Royal Palm Resort), Purna (a former officer of the Sydney Police department), Sam B (a rap star of fading fame), and a still-to-be unveiled character who has been kept confidential till further notice.

“Dead Island: Riptide” is set for a 2013 release for current generation consoles and PC.
