‘X-Men’ Spinoff TV Series ‘Legion' Update: FX Preview Of Its New Original TV Series Gains Positive Reviews; February 2017 Premiere Teased

FX announced in October 2015 that two new Marvel superheros, Legion and Hellfire, are set to have their own live-action series. During the recent New York Comic Con, Marvel superhero fanatics were given a fantastic surprise as FX finally revealed what its most powerful mutant, Legion, can do through a first 30- minute preview of its upcoming new original series, "Legion."

The slick video recently released by FX showed the main character, David Haller (Dan Stevens), who is a powerful mutant with telekinetic and telepathic abilities. However, David was mistaken to be schizophrenic and in some instances crazy, hence his psychiatric medications. The preview also summarized how David struggles to analyze his true identity - referring to his extraordinary powers - and how he finally unleashes the mutant in him.

The promo preview was said to give something unique and refreshing, and presented "Legion" with elements that are nothing like the traditional superhero stories. In addition, the trailer had no shortage of praises as critics, fans, writers and press who were present during the show's NYCC presentation were said to be in a struggle as to how they could best describe what is expected to be the best superhero TV show ever made.

"Legion" follows the story of David who in the Marvel Comics is the son of Professor Charles Xavier and Moira MacTaggert, which basically explains where he got his strong mind powers. However, it was not described how "Legion" will connect with the "X-men" story or if it will ever feature its predecessors.

"Legion" creator Noah Hawley ("X-Men: Days of Future Past" and "Xmen: Apocalypse") will work alongside writer/producer Simon Kinberg and "X-men" collaborators/producers Kindberg, Lauren Shuler Donner and Bryan Singer, among others. FX was supposed to pick up the show for a 2016 premiere, but apparently the release date was again moved in 2017. No specific date has been confirmed, but "Legion's" Twitter page repeatingly reminds fans that the world will start enjoying the ultimate mutant and his powers in February 2017.

"Legion" will be produced by FX and Marvel. The series also signed several other stars including Rachel Keller, Katie Aselton, Jean Smart, Amber Midthunder, Jeremie Harris, Bill Irwin, Jemaine Clement, Katie Aselton, and Aubrey Plaza.
