‘Scandal’ Season 6 Cancellation Rumors Are True? To Be Replaced By Shonda Rimes’ New Show?

ABC’s “Scandal” might not pursue its sixth installment which fans highly anticipate. Rumors have it that showrunner Shonda Rhimes is the main reason for the show’s endless cancellation reports.

Per Movie News Guide, many factors were considered leading to the final conclusion of the political drama. First on the list is the change in time slot. In some networks, tv sitcoms are subjected to modifications in schedules when they do not perform well followed by a cancellation.

NBC’s “Grimm”was reported as an example. The show had season 6 as its final chapter and prior to its termination, the company moved it to a different air time.

This has caused the series’ strong followers to be alarmed that “Scandal” season 6 would take the same direction as “Grimm’s” especially that “Notorious” took its regular time slot.

In a previous report, it was mentioned that Kerry Washington’s pregnancy has been causing the delay of production. Now that the talented actress has given birth, surely the filming of the new episodes will be greatly impacted as she is set for a maternity leave.

Another major sign pointed to the show’s ending is the busy schedule of the show creator Shonda Rhimes. According to Deadline, Rhimes and Betsy Beers’ Shondaland were tapped by ABC for a new legal drama next season.

Shondaland, a TV production company founded by Rhimes boasts an impressive roster of successful dramas. Aside from “Scandal,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “How To Get Away with Murder” and “The Catch” are also her stunning creations.

It looks like the writer’s plate are too full. Hopefully, the issues chasing “Scandal” season 6 will be addressed the soonest time possible.
