BLACKPINK, TWICE, Already Being Compared To 2NE1 And Girls Generation

"The ultimate victory in competition is derived from the inner satisfaction of knowing that you have done your best and that you have gotten the most out of what you had to give" - Howard Cosell.

Competition keeps you in condition. That's just the way it is. It was 2009 when the most competitive and exciting duel between two of South Korea's top girl bands 2NE1 and Girls' Generation started. Legions of fans from both bands shared their thoughts on who really is the best Kpop Girl Band. It was a healthy competition but somebody has got to give.

For the past 7 years, Girls' Generation and 2NE1 went back and forth to verify on who should be called as the greatest Kpop Girl Band in the modern era. On the same year, Girls' Generation dropped their critically acclaimed album Tell Me Your Wish(Genie), with its carrier single "Genie".

On the other hand, 2NE1 just had their debut on self-titled album and it was just simply phenomenal. The album includes chart topping singles such as "lollipop", "fire" and the winner of the Song Of The Year at 11th Mnet Asian Music Awards, "I don't care". They are the first Korean Group to win the prestigious award on their rookie year.

How great was 2NE1? Well, let's put it this way. The Korean Kpop Girl Band was just trying to make it on the radio waves in their native South Korea. Little do they know, they were hitting big time outside the country. One of the most notable praise came from a well-known blogger/celebrity in the name of Perez Hilton. The respected blogger declared them his "favorite" Korean girl-group.

2NE1 is currently on hiatus and right now focusing on their personal career. It was reported as well that Minzy left the band for good. Girls' Generation is still on top of their game.Jessica left the group already but the band is still prominent in the Korean Music industry.

Then here comes the new generation of Kpop Girl Bands namely, BLACKPINK and TWICE. These two promising bands are already being compared to the two iconic girl bands in Korean History. Let us focus first on TWICE. TWICE made its debut last year under JYP Entertainment. The band is composed of 9 members and all of them were participants in the show named "Sixteen".

TWICE experienced immediate success after releasing their song "Cheer Up" which took the number one spot for almost a month last March. Now, they are ready for their mini-album titled TWICEcoaster. YG Entertainment unleashed their newest girl group to counter TWICE. The name of the band is BLACKPINK. Like TWICE, BLACKPINK needed no time to reach new heights when it comes to music hits. "Boombayah" and "Whistle" are just two of their singles that are still being played today.

Are we seeing the reincarnation of the duel that we had last 7 years ago? Fans are already waiting for the epic clash of BLACKPINK and TWICE. The allegations started to make a buzz when BLACKPINK confirmed that they are going to release their new album, one week after TWICE released theirs.
