DJI Mavic Pro VS DJI Phantom 4 VS GoPro Karma: Specs, Review, Price

If you're looking to buy a drone this year, there are three great options for you. The DJI Mavic Pro, the DJI Phantom 4 and GoPro Karma are all great deals to buy this 2016. There are currently quite a number of good and affordable drones on the market. However, these three are pretty much the most talked about right now.

DJI Mavic Pro Drone

The DJI Mavic Pro is a very compact drone, foldable to a size of a small video camera and a perfect fit for a small bag. It might be small in size but it is oozing with power and features. It is DJI's latest masterpiece and it does come with all the DJI traits the company is loved for. You can control the Mavic Pro for up to 7km away and you can even livestream your footage on Facebook Live and other social media platforms using the DJI Go app.

The DJI Mavic Pro comes with a small controller that has a small screen to show you the flight details. There may not be a display to see what your camera sees, but this isn't so much of a problem as you can just attach your phone to the controller and you're good to go. The drone is also completely controllable through a smartphone. What's best about the DJI Mavic Pro is its topnotch camera quality and intelligent nature. It's pretty much one of the smartest drones on the market. It's got obstacle sensors, follow-me mode, gesture mode, and many other features.

DJI Phantom 4

The DJI Phantom 4 is another drone from the drone master. It's a bit bulkier than the Mavic Pro but both possess the same power. It's not as portable but it's one of the best drones on the market as well. Like the Mavic Pro, the DJI Phantom 4 also comes with lots of "modes" that makes the drone very useful and far from collisions. CNET says it's actually a very polished drone and is a recommended product for first-timers. It's not because it is an amateur drone, but technically because it's quite easy to use.

GoPro Karma

GoPro Karma gets a little bit of a mixed reaction from the market. It kind of lacks most of the intelligent features that DJI drones offer but GoPro's latest addition actually boasts of something else. Karma's tag line of "more than just a drone" is actually pretty accurate. GoPro Karma is like a combination of an action-cam and a drone. It can capture great footage whether on air or while you mount it on your gears, like you would on a non-drone GoPro. What's great about the GoPro Karma is that its camera is removable so you can always use a different GoPro action-cam when you feel like it and you're free to keep the same drone next season when a new GoPro camera comes in.
