The second season of "Food Wars! Shokugeki No Soma" has just recently concluded a few months back. The finale ended on a cliffhanger so it is just natural for many fans to expect that a third season is slated to be released very soon. Here is a quick recap of what happened previously and some speculations on what is in store for the upcoming season of "Food Wars! Shokugeki No Soma."
"Food Wars! Shokugeki No Soma" Season 2 Recap
After an extremely successful first season, "Food Wars! Shokugeki No Soma" came back for a second season with only 13 episodes but tackled two major story arcs. The first story arc was about the Autumn Elections. It was a single elimination cooking battle wherein the manga's main protagonist, Soma was able to reach the finals round with Hayama and Ryo but was ultimately defeated by Hayama.
The second story arc was about the Stagiaire Arc which proceeded right after the first arc. The students were sent to different restaurants to immerse themselves in the culinary world. Soma initially had a tough time dealing with the French cooking, but he eventually learned and passed all the challenges. The season ended with Soma returning to Totsuki Academy waiting for anyone to challenge him to a Shokugeki.
"Food Wars! Shokugeki No Soma" Season 3 Spoilers
The new season is speculated to have two story arcs as well. The first story arc will be a change of leadership in the Totsuki Academy. Senzaemon Nakiri will be voted off by the Elite Ten to be replaced by Azami Nakiri. The second story arc focuses on how Azami Nakiri will create the Central Division and the research society will be eliminated.
It is also rumored that Erina, who is the daughter of the new headmaster Azami Nakiri will pledge allegiance to the polar star dorm. Erina is apparently not in favor of his father's Central Division decision. Together with Soma, they will help keep the polar star dorm together and save the research society against Azami Nakiri and even the Elite Ten students.
"Food Wars! Shokugeki No Soma" season 3 is speculated to be released on 2017, however, no formal announcement has been made yet.
