The rumors are not true. “Scandal” is not cancelled and is set to return to tv screens with a trailer that couldn’t be less thrilling.

ABC’s political drama is slated to air its highly anticipated season 6 on Thursday, January 19. Series creator Shonda Rhimes confirmed the release date via her Twitter account. The talented writer/producer sounds excited more than anyone else as her tweet goes “It's official. January 19th? #SCANDAL is back. #TGIT is BACK. And I cannot WAIT!”

Previously, cancellation rumors on the popular soap are rife. The presumed factors that sparked speculations are the change in time slot, delay in production and the hectic schedule of Rhimes. It cannot be denied that the showrunner’s plate is full with big projects like “Grey’s Anatomy” and “How To Get Away with Murder.”

The huge fan base of the series can possibly see a rekindled romance between Olivia and President Fitz in the forthcoming upcoming episodes. As his leadership ends, a new name will take his slot and it could either be Mellie Grant (Bellamy Young) or Governor Vargas (Ricardo Chavira).

Per International Business Times, major deaths are also expected. The teaser shows a bomb explosion in an empty lot that was witnessed by (Guillermo Diaz) and Quinn (Katie Lowes). Moreover, fans of the show will see the entrance of “Glee” alum Jessalyn Gilsig, who took Joelle Carter’s place in portraying the role of Jake Ballard’s (Scott Foley) wife.

It looks like the soap is packed with intense action and emotional drama. Gladiators are sure to have their new year’s treat with a blast.
