Volkswagen Just Revealed The 2017 Golf: What You Need To Know From This Small Hatch

Volkswagen has just announced the release of the 2017 Golf. The changes are much like an update for the Mark seven models and nothing major. A totally new generation Golf is not set for release until 2018, however, the 2017 version is still something to look forward to.

Volkswagen Gets A Facelift For The New Model

The 2017 Golf will only have minor changes on the exterior with a new set of headlights, bumpers, and a new wing. Flowing indicators, much like the ones from Audi, will also be added to the new Golf along with LED rear headlights. The changes may not be noticeable on the outside, but the inside tells a different story.

Infotainment systems will be updated with a newer version for all the models. The top of the line Golf will get a large 9.2-inch screen, eight-inch screen for the mid-level and a 6.5-inch screen for the base model. The top of the line version will feature touch, voice and gesture controls that will allow the driver to scroll through different menu options and to maximize functionality. The system will come equipped with sensors to recognize gesture and swipes so the driver can simply wave to do certain tasks or to change menu items. This infotainment system will be called Discovery Pro.

Volkswagen Gets A New Engine

A new 1.5liter option will be added to the current 1.0, 1.6 and 2.0liter diesel engine. The engine will feature a new technology named "cylinder-on-demand. The technology allows the car to use just two cylinders, instead of all four, to save fuel. The new engine gives out 145 horsepower to the wheels in its normal trim and 128 horsepower for the Bluemotion version, which will come out later on 2017.

The 2017 Golf GTI is also something that Volkswagen fans will be looking forward to as the new version will be more powerful than the last version. The new GTI will still get a 2.0liter turbocharged engine with an increased power output. 10hp is added to the GTI Version which totals to 227 horsepower and the GTI Performance model will get a total power output of 242horsepower, which is also an increase coming from the previous version that gives out 227 horsepower. The 2017 Volkswagen Golf is expected to open reservations by February 2017 with a target delivery by April.
