Best Budget Phones Of 2016 Under $200: OnePlus X, Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, Motorola Moto G4

The smartphone market is dominated by some big players - like Apple and Samsung - but this in no way means that the smaller companies do not have stellar offerings. In fact, this year saw some of the fastest growth in terms of smartphone sales for some select manufacturers. And with the last month of 2016 drawing nearer and nearer, there is just enough time to grab some of the year's best deals.

OnePlus has released some of the most notable handhelds of the year, but none other than the OnePlus X is the best deal from the company. At just over US$200, the handheld has notable power, internal storage and cameras. But in addition to these specs, it also comes in a great design, which is simple and modern.

The OnePlus X is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor and a 5 inch screen with 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution. The entire device is just 160 grams with dimensions of 140 x 69 x 6.9mm. It comes with 16GB of internal storage and a standard 3GB of RAM. ITs camera is 13 megapixels at the rear and 8 megapixels in front. Its battery is also a stable 2525 mAh - though it definitely will not last as long as the more expensive options available.

Unfortunately, Tech Radar reports that the OnePlus X, despite being one of the best smartphones of the year, is already limited. The company has reportedly stopped manufacturing the unit, so the remaining stocks are up for grabs.

Another option that is currently available s the Xiaomi Red Note 3, which sells for around US$150, as reported by PC Advisor. It runs on a 2GHz MediaTek MT6795 Helio X10 64-bit octa-core processor, PowerVR Rogue G6200 GPU and 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM. It comes with the minimal 16GB of internal storage. However, the 32GB variant is suggested as the unit does not come with a microSD slot to expand storage.

The built in battery of the Redmi Note 3, however, is spectacular. At 4000 mAh, the user is sure to be able to use the handheld throughout the day. It's front camera is 5 megapixels, while the rear camera is 13 megapixels.

Another winner that came out of 2016 - without costing so much - is the Motorola Moto G4. The deviceis powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor and is priced at just above US$200. It does have a relatively low 2GB of internal storage and just 16GB or 32GB of internal storage.

Nevertheless, it does have a 3000 mAh battery, as well as a 13 megapixel rear camera and 5 megapixel front camera. Its 5.5 inch screen also has a 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution. Furthermore, the entire 153 x 76.6 x 9.8mm device weighs only 155 grams.

Though there are definitely more options out there, those above will surely give interested buyers the bang for their buck. And while they definitely cannot and do not boast the same specs as Samsung's S7 Edge or Apple's iPhone 7 Plus, they do bring enough to the stage, especially as the costs associated with these devices are far lighter. The sacrifice definitely saves on the financial end of things.
