Pokémon Sun & Moon Guide: How To Take Advantage Of Primarina’s Moves And Stats

Primarina is the final of evolution of Popplio, one of the three Starter Pokémon on Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon. This Pokémon has less advantage in terms of speed and has quite many weaknesses. Here's a guide on how to take advantage of Primarina's moves and stats.

Pokémon Sun And Moon - Primarina Z-Move

Primarina can transform its Sparkling Aria to Z-Move Oceanic Operetta once it gets hold of the Z-Crystal and the Trainer with Z-Ring. It inflicts a massive 195 in damage. However, Oceanic Operetta doesn't fare well against Grass-type Pokémon. To take advantage of Primarina's Oceanic Operettta, you have to consider a combination of its stats below.

Pokémon Sun And Moon - Primarina Stats

In terms of base stats, Primarina has 80 in Health, 74 in Attack, 126 in Special Attack, 116 in Special Defense and 60 in Speed. This base stats is pretty so-so to bring into battle except for the Speed which is a bit poor. Forget about its Speed and take advantage of the Special Attack which makes it ideal for Pokémon whose strength lies on Special Attack as well. You can also use it more effectively on Pokémon that has low Special Defense. Even if Primarina is low in Defense, it can be resilient to Fighting-type Pokémon and more powerful to Dragon-type.

Pokémon Sun And Moon - Primarina Movesets

Like the other starter Pokémon, Primarina also has a lot of moves to learn. As you go along the way, it is best to take advantage of these moves for Primarina. Aside from it being good at dealing damage, its signature move Sparkling Aria also heals burns. Remember that there are Pokémon that can use Flame Orb to burn themselves and boost stats. Primarina can use Sparkling Aria to stop the enemy from doing so.

Primarina can also learn Blastoise's strongest move Hydro Pump. This can be used to inflict greater damage on the enemy. However, it is less precise which is not advantageous as a final blow. Moonblast brings Primarina a STAB benefit and odds at dragging down your foe's Special Attack. It is ideal to use if you want to counterbalance other team's Special Attacker.

Pokémon Sun And Moon - The Cons

Apparently, Primarina falls short in terms of Speed. Putting this Pokémon at the forefront of battle is somehow not a very good idea as it is weak to Electric, Grass, Poison and three other types of Pokémon. Electric Pokémon is Primarina's greatest nightmare.

Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon are now available on Nintendo 3DS.
