Final Fantasy XV Guide: Wait Mode, When To Activate It And How It Works

Final Fantasy XV is an open world action role-playing video game that is now available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The game was released worldwide on Nov. 29 and is the fifteenth main installment in the Final Fantasy series. Since the game introduces a whole new style of combat, you might want to know more about wait codes and how to use them.

What Is Wait Mode And How It Works In Final Fantasy XV

In the game, Wait Mode affects how time works in battles. Time flows normally when you move or issue commands. Wait mode only starts working when you stop moving. Even when activated, your character can still move around.

It is worth remembering that you cannot use wait mode forever. When it is activated, there is a timer at the bottom of the screen. Its duration varies depending on your difficulty setting. When it reaches zero, you are back in the normal mode of the game again.

How To Activate And When To Use Wait Mode

Activating this new feature in Final Fantasy XV is quite simple. You only need to pause the game. Go to the options menu. Click Combat, and then toggle from active to wait.

You can use wait mode by pressing R1 or the RB button when you are out scanning an enemy's weakness. It can also be utilized if you are looking for a point-warp location that can allow Noctis to recover. Targeting a precise area-of-effect spell is also a good reason to use the wait mode feature.

You can locate a sniper or hidden enemy before they can release lots of damage to your party. With wait mode, you can check out who is targeting whom. The blue lines indicate who your allies are attacking and the red lines how where the enemy is directing their attention. This is particularly helpful when you're outnumbered.

If you want to have a longer wait mode, you can always toggle the difficulty settings. To do this, enter the pause menu, select Difficulty, then switch to easy. With a lower difficulty setting, enemies are weaker and the wait mode is extended, giving you a longer time to rehash your decisions.

Final Fantasy XV Wait Mode Ascension Tree Abilities

There is an Ascension Tree for enhancing the perks offered by Wait Mode. Below are all the important skills you can unlock in Final Fantasy XV.

Consider yourself lucky if you acquire "Time Freeze" as it offers an unlimited wait timer. "Time Restore" on the other hand, gives an extended amount of time every time you defeat an enemy. The "Pesto Libra" reduces time to reveal a target's weakness with Libra. Meanwhile, "Sage" increases the damage inflicted by the party based on the number of the enemies in Libra State. The higher the enemy the stronger the damage it has.

The "Elementalist" increases damage inflicted by a scanned elemental weakness. The "Warp Punish" increases damage with warp-strikes when targeting enemies with 50 percent HP or less. Lastly, the "Warp Ambush" increases breakage odds with Warp-Strikes when targeting enemies attacking other party members.
