‘Reign’ To End After Season 4; Fans Not Surprised With The CW’s Cancellation

It’s time to bring down the curtain. ‘Reign’ season 4 is confirmed to be the series’ final run.

Per Deadline, the historical romance will finally reach the conclusion of the story of Mary, Queen of Scots that featured more on her early exploits. The CW has reached the decision and have already informed the showrunners. Sadly, the cancellation happened just as the series is starting shooting the finale of season 4.

The same source cited that the idea of killing the show is not a surprising act. As the author wrote, “I hear the network and the producers had been having conversations that Season 4 may be the last, so the writers had been crafting this as a possible final chapter.”

It looks like the news about the show’s cancellation is expected. Even avid fans of “Reign” are not in great shock of what happened although they admitted their dismay. It is because the Stephanie SenGupta and Laurie McCarthy created drama hasn’t been performing good in terms of viewership. It is said that “Reign” season 3 earned an underwhelming 0.3 rating. Indeed, numbers are crucial players in the longevity of the tv programs.

Meanwhile, the last season will introduce new faces. Interestingly, Leesa (Megan Follows), daughter of Catherine de Medici, will make her appearance in the forthcoming season. Despite being the least favored of Catherine's children, Leesa will prove her worth as a fierce and brave political opponent. Other new characters include suitors for Mary, Lord Darnley (Will Kemp) and Bothwell (Adam Croasdell).

“Reign” season 4, consisting of 16 episodes will pave way on its big reveals as it premieres on February 10, 2017, 9 pm. Its last episode is expected to air in June of same year.
