‘Scandal’ Season 6 Returns With Francisco Vargas’ Death & Victory; Olivia & Pres. Fitz To Rekindle Their Ugly Affair?

Following a thrilling finale of its fifth installment, "Scandal" is due for a major premiere on January 19 and the trailer reassures the audience that it’s a show that shouldn’t be missed; not a single episode. With all the controversies and dark secrets that have been enveloping the characters, who would dare to?

Recently, an ad poster of the political drama was released and it’s nothing short of big reveals on its sith season. As the power caption says it, "The balance of power is about to shift," which obviously is referring to the results of the presidential race.

Clearly, the series is set to return with an explosive storyline of Olivia Pope’s erratic political profession and how will it be madly affected of whoever wins the highly-talked election. Interestingly, the viewers will soon learn whether the new president will be Francisco Vargas or Mellie Grant. One’s victory will indicate the amount of power Olivia will possess should her stay in Washington D.C. continues.

The fateful turn of events in “Scandal” season 6 will also see a tragic death of the soap’s major character. The teaser video of the new season showed a dead body inside a body bag, and upon knowing who is inside, Olivia can be heard shockingly saying "Oh My God!"

Rumors have it that it will be Francisco Vargas’ horrible downfall post his alleged win. Presumably, Grant is hard at accepting her loss and ordered the newly-elected president to be assassinated. It is also likely that the man next on power to him, his vice president, Cyrus Beene, might had plotted his killing since it is his greatest desire to become the president.

With the release date made official and an explosive trailer making their rounds on the web, cancellation rumors are now put to rest. To recall, the program had faced numerous speculations such as a major change in time slot, production delay and the busy schedule of series creator Shonda Rhimes. Obviously, the showrunner’s plate is full with grand projects like “Grey’s Anatomy” and “How To Get Away with Murder.” Adoringly, Rhimes has her own ways of making things work for everyone and everything. Her shows are hitting impressive ratings and critical acclaims, huh.

Of course, the forthcoming season will not be scandalous without the dark affair of Olivia and President Fitz. As previously reported, as his leadership ends, there’s a big room for a romantic reunion between the two of them.

Despite their ugly affair that brought chaos in the previous seasons, Rhimes is positive for Olivia’s future.

"I don't know if you all will notice this - because Olivia beats people to death with chairs and stuff - but I feel like I can see it: There's an optimism that exists in the work now. On Scandal, we're heading some place that's optimistic," she said.

Not only a taste of death, victory and secrets will be unveiled in season 6. Zoe Perry, the daughter of actor Jeff Perry is said to make her comeback in the impending season and will reprise her role along with “Glee” alum Jessalyn Gilsig, who took Joelle Carter’s place in portraying the role of Jake Ballard’s (Scott Foley) wife.

Are you ready Gladiators? You better be because Rhonda Shimes stylishly designed an emotional machine of “Scandal” season 6 that will surely tap your senses to suspense, mystery, and drama.
