'The Blacklist' Season 4 Spoilers: Liz Discovers New Lead In Mole Hunt; Samar's Ambiguous Backstory Explained

Latest "The Blacklist" season 4 spoilers center on Liz as she gets down and dirty in leading the probe about the mole inside Red's team. Liz has been agitated to know who among her cohorts committed high treason, but she cannot hide the fact that she's bound to take down one of her closest friends.

The Mole

Fans have been left on the edge of their seats when the midseason finale of "The Blacklist" season 4 ended with Red's (James Spader) discovery of a mole inside his team. Speculations have already sprouted suggesting Samar (Mozhan Marnò) as the secret agent who all this time has been infiltrating the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Supporting the speculation is the preview of the "The Blacklist" season 4, episode 9 titled "Lipet's Seafood Company." The preview has Harold (Harry Lenix) telling the mole, "You must quickly decide where your loyalty lies." From this point, it seems like only Red and Harold know about who the mole is.

Liz Discovers New Lead In Mole Hunt

Spoilers reveal that they won't be dropping the suspect yet to give ample time to decide and this would cause more drama. In fact, Red and Harold's decision might prompt Liz (Megan Boone) to set off her own investigation on the matter.

Despite qualms over turning over one of her friends whose allegiance after all these years remains in question, Liz needs to do the right thing in order to salvage the national security of her beloved country. Later on, Liz would discover a lead as to who the mole is.

Samar's Ambiguous Backstory

Speculations point to Samar because of her ambiguous backstory. She is known to be a Mossad agent from Iran. It can be recalled back in season 2 that she saved Red from an aerial attack while in a hotel. Afterwards, Harold formally introduced her to the FBI task force. Even so, there is no definite confirmation about Samar being the mole. Possibilities remain open to Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff) and Aram (Amir Arison).

"The Blacklist" season 4 returns on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017 at 10:00 p.m. ET on NBC.
