Ford Fiesta Rally Car Is Ready To Get On The Track

The new Ford Fiesta has just been recently introduced and it was the talk of the town. Following its recent introduction, the limelight shifts to the Ford Fiesta's motorsport version. Some people may find it too early but this does not change the fact that the Ford Fiesta rally car is here and ready to get on the track.

Restricted Power

Given the fact that the Ford Fiesta is tuned for a World Rally Championship (WRC), it is no surprise that it has a lot of power under the hood. According to a report from CNET, the WRC version of the Ford Fiesta draws an incredible 380 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque from a 1.6-liter direct-injected EcoBoost Inline-4 engine. A six-speed sequential transmission and active center differential sends this power through an all-wheel drive (AWD) drivetrain. Apparently, the power has an intake restrictor in compliance to WRC rules and that means the Ford Fiesta will be able to do more if ever it is brought out of the tracks.

A New Car With A Champ Behind The Wheel

TopGear reported that the Ford Fiesta Rally car will be driven by the current and four-time WRC champion Sebastien Ogier. Ogier is an M-Sport driver from Volkswagen's team but since the latter will not be joining the competition next autumn, the former was left without a team to represent and was drafted to dive the new Ford Fiesta Rally car. "We start the 2017 season with one goal in mind - returning to the top step of the podium. With Ogier on hand, you'd expect the chances of doing so aren't too shabby at all," said Malcolm Wilson, M-Sport boss in a report.

It Will Be An Interesting New Season

With a new rally car from Ford and a champion driving it next season, WRC fans will certainly see an interesting new season. Although the first race is yet to commence next month, the Ford Fiesta rally car is now revving and ready to get on the track.
