Recording 4K Gameplay Videos From 'PlayStation 4 Pro' And 'Xbox Scorpio' Now Possible

Recording some high-quality gameplay videos from your console requires quite a lot of work when it comes to using a PC and compiling all the videos on a video editing software. Your work can be a lot easier if you go for a capture card that will do everything for you, except editing.

You can now record 4K videos on consoles

Epiphan has brought a 4K external video capture card that will work with consoles, PCs, cameras, Smartphone's, etc. The card is mainly designed to record 4K videos without any disturbance. This would mean that you are now able to record 4K Gameplay Videos from the recently released PlayStation 4 Pro, and the upcoming Xbox Scorpio.

How it works

AV.io HDMI to USB 4K capture card works on the hardware layer. Once it's connected to your console, and the storage is detected, it starts recording. At one side, you will be needing the video source that can be your console, and on the other side a PC for a stream, capture source.

You can select a custom resolution of up to 4096x2160, with 4K UHD Video streaming at 30FPS and 1080p at 60FPS. It also records high-quality audio of up to 24bit 96Hz.

Price of the card

With all things said, you also need to know that the capture card is quite costly. It is currently priced $400 on Amazon. Compared to this, there are some models under $100, but none of them offers 4K video recording.

On the other end, the card also works with various other devices, which is definitely a plus point. The cards are ideal accessories for new consoles like the upcoming Xbox Scorpio and the PlayStation 4 Pro.

When should you buy one?

The said consoles have 4K gaming support, but getting the exact video output with positive sound won't be possible if the console itself can stream the content at the highest resolution. If 4K recording is your primary intention in capturing gameplay, then this card is definitely worth the buy.
