This year, we celebrate Pokémon's 20th anniversary and with that, comes with lots of surprises and Easter Eggs which was inconspicuously incorporated in the latest iteration of the franchise, Pokémon Sun and Moon. Although the game has diverged into multitudes of realities and timelines, one fan managed to connect the dot from 16 years ago - way back on the third Pokémon movie and revealed astounding theory about the Ultra Beasts and the wormholes.
Unown is a Young Ultra Beast Theory
A fan has taken on Reddit to show his theory regarding Unown and its connection with the Ultra Beasts. According to the user, the movie Entei Spell of Unown foreshadows the existence of Ultra Beasts and that Unown has a deep connection with the Ultra Beasts - even calling the latter as one of the UBs. Here is the summary to the theory:
Wormhole
Professor Hale accidentally summoned several Unowns which was according to him, came from the "other side." Here is the video showcasing his idea about the existence of the other dimension. Now, it can be noted that they flew towards the moon during night and opened the portal. The portal that was opened (above Molly's head), looks exactly like a wormhole.
Ultra Beast Foreshadowing
During the opening sequence, you can see a book that reads "legendary Pokémon." This book was read by Molly together with her dad. During the part where the Unown can be read, there exists a singular pupil at the center with no black shape surrounding the eye. This could imply the "ultra wormhole" or according to the Redditor, could be the central part of Unown Beast. But this definitely implies that Unowns are capable of opening the UB portals.
Molly, Professor Hale and Unowns
Fast forward, it is then concluded that the Unowns are responsible for opening the Ultra Beast portals and the connection between Unowns and UBs are highlighted during when Professor Hale accidentally activated the tiles which according to the theory, can only be activated through the Ultra Wormhole energy which professor Hale has accessed to due to him being a Faller. Because of this energy, it makes the UBs attracted to Hale and Molly (his daughter also has the ability). And since the Unowns are quite attracted to the two, it could then imply that Unowns have the same lineage as the UBs!
Solgaleo and Xurkitree Foreshadowing
In this moment, you can see the image of the Sun resembling like that of Solgaleo. You can even see the Sun's mark which looks exactly like the one seen in Solgaleo's forehead! Now, Xurkitree can be found here. See the semblance?
To summarize, the Unowns have the ability to open up UB portals and that Hale's family constantly drifts across dimensions which explains why the characters frequently disappear and reappear in the story.
