2013 New York Auto Show: Three High Performance Cars We Can't Wait To See

We're going to be seeing a lot of new cars at the 2013 New York Auto Show, and the show won't be slacking on bringing the world some impressive, new, high-performance cars. Here's what we're most excited about:

Shelby 1000

The 2013 GT1000 is a powerful beast, with just absurd amounts of power. It holds a 1200 horsepower engine. That's not a typo. This new Shelby, built on the frame of a Ford Mustang, has about 10 times the amount of power as the average American car. The GT1000 has almost twice as much horsepower as Shelby's 2013 GT500, which is no wimp when it comes to power (the GT500 has 662 horsepower).

Interested? The GT1000 will start at $154,995.

Jaguar XJR

Jaguar unveiled its new XJR on Friday, and we're super psyched to see more of it in New York. The XJR features a supercharged 5.0 liter V8 engine that makes 550 horsepower. And that big V8 means the Jaguar will move from zero to 60 in under five seconds and get the car to a top speed of 186 mph. The XJR should see competition with the Audi S8, Porsche Panamera Turbo and the Mercedes-Benz S63.

Chrysler SRT Viper TA

Chrysler is also unveiling a big powerful muscle car at the New York Auto Show. At the show, we'll see the 2014 SRT Viper TA (Time Attack). The new Viper will house an enormous 8.4-liter V10 that pushes 640 horsepower and 600 pound-feet of torque. Vipers have been getting more and more comfortable as Chrysler tries to make the car appealing to Porsche and Ferrari owners, but the 2014 Viper has deviated from that course. The new Viper has no stereo or leather seats. And while it may not be too comfortable, the 2014 SRT Viper TA will certainly be an animal on the track.
