Pokémon GO Summer 2017 Event Discussion On Hype Amidst New Year’s Event

Niantic is still in the second phase of its holiday event for Pokémon GO and discussion of the summer 2017 event has started to take the center stage in communities. Surfing Pikachus, sunglasses-wearing Squirtle and Alolan Raichu are just some of the suggested contents.

A Sunglasses-Wearing Squirtle

Things about Pokémon GO's summer event are on hype as the year opens. Discussion over online communities have been flooded about what trainers from around the world want to see next on the augmented reality game. An Otakukart report has expressed about bringing in Squirtle sporting sunglasses on a red-hot summer. This same concept mimics the anime version of Squirtle when it once wore such eyewear. The current holiday event has Pikachu wearing a Santa hat so it would be fair to have a Squirtle wearing sunglasses too, the report stated.

A Surfing Pikachu

On Reddit, there has been an ongoing discussion since Dec. 2016 about the summer 2017 event for Pokémon GO. Pikachu has been the face of any Pokémon franchise so many fans have suggested that Pikachu this time should be surfing. The post has gathered a couple of comments resonating this suggestion. This should be inspired by Pokémon Yellow, a Nintendo 3DS game featuring a surfing Pikachu. On the other hand, many are liking the thought of bringing an Alolan Raichu into the scene. Is it the right time for a Pokémon Sun and Moon crossover? Who knows? Niantic and Game Freak still has a plenty of months to work out this much-anticipated crossover.

In the meantime, all these are just suggestions from the community. As of now, it's still early to speculate what's coming up for the game's summer 2017 event. Certainly though, Niantic will soon be brewing another event in the scorching heat of the sun.

Should a surfing Pikachu be the face of Pokémon GO's summer 2017 event? Or, a sunglasses-wearing Squirtle could do it justice? What do you think of a Pokémon Sun and Moon crossover? Comment down below your thoughts!
